Summer Tot Camps

April 11, 2021 Update

We received word late in the afternoon on Friday (the 9th) that our summer camps have been APPROVED to be held at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church.

Registration will begin at 6:00 pm on Monday, April 12th.  We have very limited space (50 total tot and big kid campers per week as opposed to up to 150 total campers per week) and expect to fill quickly.

Please see below for all relevant camp information!

EverWonder Summer 2021 FAQ’s:

What are your camp dates and times?

Camp will run from 9:00-1:00 from June 21-July 30 for our 3YO-Rising K campers. Please note, preschool campers can choose to enroll in our full day camps.

Where is your camp location?

Camp will be held at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church located at 1500 North Glebe Road Arlington, VA 22207.

What are your themes this summer?

June 21-25  Storybook STEAM

June 27-July 2 Tiny Travelers

July 6-9 P is for Picasso (no camp on 7/5)

July 12-16 Farm Animal Friends

July 19-23 Lotsa, Lotsa LEGO® and LEGO® Friends

(Minute to Win It, Bug Bonanza, Super Spies, Olympics and Luau)
What is your maximum number of full-day campers per week?

Our total number of campers (half and full day) will not exceed 50 per week.  We will likely open spots for 30 half day campers each week.

What are your cohort sizes?

There will be no more than 10 campers in each cohort with two group leaders.

Do you anticipate a waitlist this summer?

Absolutely!  We are running at about 1/2 to 1/4 capacity and expect to fill within a couple of days.

Will daily registration be offered?

Due to Covid-19 we will only be offering weekly registration this summer.

Will Early Care or After Care be offered?

Due to Covid-19 protocols/cohorting there will not offer Early Care or After Care.

Is there an option order lunch?

As always, campers may bring their nut-free lunches from home or they may order a hot, boxed lunch from Pie-Tanza. Campers will be able to order lunch beginning on or around June 1st. We will email enrolled families to let them know it’s time to sign up.

Are your camps academic?

Our camps are play based and our campers learn through play.  Our themes can be academic in nature, but all of our activities are hands-on and interactive.  After a year of being at-home, play is more important than ever.  We have always prioritized outside time at our camps and will take every opportunity to spend as much time outdoors as possible this summer.

Will you honor friend requests?

We will ask for friend requests and each child will be guaranteed to be placed in a cohort with at least one friend. Due to our extremely small cohort sizes we cannot guarantee that a child will be placed with more than one friend.  The exception is if a pod of children that has been learning together all school year registers for camp together.

What are your Covid-19 mitigation protocols?

We have modeled our Covid-19 mitigation protocols after the protocols various independent schools have put in place for the 2020-2021 school year.  These schools have remained open for in-person learning safely and successfully all year.  We have included our general protocols below, but much more information will be shared with families that are registered for camp.

Our cohorts will be comprised of no more than 10 campers with two camp leaders. If siblings are attending camp together they will be placed in the same cohort to minimize households per cohort. If a pod of campers attends camp together, we will keep that pod together as long as there are no more than 10 members of a pod.

Cohorts will not mix.

We are purchasing HEPA filters for each classroom space.  These will run 24/7 and will be place in the middle of the classroom.
At the end of each day, we will disinfect our toys/manipulatives using a fogger.

Each cohort will have designated toys/manipulatives.  They will not be shared outside of the cohort.

Each camper will have her/his own set of crayons, markers, glue, scissors, etc.

We will configure our classrooms to have more floor space and are purchasing portable lap desks to help facilitate social distancing for when campers are working on projects.

We will continuously sanitize high traffic areas throughout the day.

We will be renting two large tents from Brooke Rentals.  Campers will eat snack and lunch outside and in the shade of the tents.

We will spend as much time outdoors as possible.  The best thing about our lap desks is that they are portable and we can take them outside with us to work on our projects in our tents.

We will crack open windows in each classroom to allow for more outside air exchanges.

Well-fitting masks are mandatory for all campers and all EverWonder staff. Masks will be worn at all times except for when eating or drinking.

EverWonder camp directors will take the contact tracing course offered by Johns Hopkins University so that we can swiftly trace all close contacts IF a positive case is identified.

We are thrilled to announce that we will have a Nurse Consultant on staff this summer.  She works at Children’s as well as St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School.

We will conduct daily health checks.  We will likely use an app for this that will require mandatory parent participation.

Campers will arrive and be dismissed via carpool to limit the number of adults in the building.

We will have a designated isolation room if a child exhibits Covid-19 symptoms during the day.

Our staff either has been completely vaccinated or is in the process of being vaccinated.

Our staff will be proactively tested weekly for Covid-19.

We will require a negative PCR Covid-19 test from all campers at the start of their first week of camp with us.  The negative test must be within 72 hours of our 9 am start time on Monday mornings. Roughly 60% of our campers are new each week.  If better/more convenient testing comes online, this policy may change and we may require a negative test at the start of each week of camp.

What is the camp tuition?

Our fees for half day camp are $275 per week this summer.  Included in this fee are all snacks and material. Campers will bring home their personal art materials at the end of their final week with us.  Optional Pie-Tanza lunch is an additional fee per day.  (We are a tiny camp and are incurring many additional costs this summer.  We anticipate our fees will be reduced to pre-Covid pricing once Covid-19 mitigation measures are lifted.)

Can I use my credit for camp this summer?

Absolutely!

Will you be requiring a deposit for camp?

We will be requiring a $100 non-refundable deposit for each week of camp this summer.  Payment in full is due on or before May 15th.

What are your refund policies?

Payment is due in full by May 15.

If circumstances require a family to cancel one or more camp sessions for 2021, the following options are available:

Before May 15:

A full refund of tuition paid over and above the deposit for 2021 camp sessions, minus a $100/session deposit.

OR (family’s choice)

A full credit of tuition paid for 2021 camp sessions, minus a $100/session deposit.

OR (family’s choice)

You may sell your spot to another child.  Families work out all financial details. We will take care of the registration end of things.

After May 15:

All fees are non-refundable. No refund or credit will be given. You may sell your spot to another child IF that child has time to obtain a negative PCR test no more than 72 hours before the start of the first day of camp.

If circumstances require EverWonder to cancel one or more camp sessions in 2021, a full refund (including the $100/week deposit) will be provided.

A partial cancellation will warrant a pro-rated refund.

Accounts will be automatically charged on May 15 to the credit card on file or the e-check on file for the remaining balance, unless prior arrangements are made with camp administration.

Changes  to your schedule may be made at no charge if the total number of sessions (weeks) remains the same or is increased.  Payments forfeited due to late withdrawal cannot be applied to the next year’s programs. No refunds or credits are given for absences. Failure to submit fees or forms on time may result in registration cancellation.

If registering after May 15, full payment is required at the time of registration, and all payments made at that time are non-refundable.
